Hey there, I am looking to start a simple home workout routine but I am not ready for weights just yet. I have heard a lot about resistance bands being a good option for beginners to build foundational strength and learn proper form.

There are so many different types of resistance bands out there. You have the loop bands, tube bands with handles, and even fabric bands. I am wondering which type is best for a full body workout for someone who is just starting out. Are there any particular brands like Rogue or TheraBand that are known for their quality and durability?

Also, what are some of your favorite beginner-friendly exercises using resistance bands? I am hoping to put together a routine that targets all major muscle groups without needing a lot of space or complex equipment. Any recommendations or tips would be super helpful!

I started with a set of loop bands from a brand called "FitStrong". They come in a pack with different resistance levels, which is great for progressing. For full body, I do squats, bicep curls, overhead press, and glute bridges. Highly recommend them!

Do not forget mini bands for glute activation! They are brilliant for warming up before a workout or adding extra resistance to squats and lunges. Small but mighty, they are. You can get a decent set for under £15 on Amazon.

For anyone in Canada, Decathlon has some really good quality resistance band sets that are quite affordable. I picked up a full set of fabric loop bands there, and they are fantastic because they do not roll up like latex ones sometimes do.

I have found that fabric bands are much more comfortable than latex ones, especially for leg exercises. They do not pinch your skin or roll down. Worth the extra few quid for the comfort alone.

Do not overdo it when you start. Even with bands, you can get sore. Listen to your body and gradually increase resistance or repetitions. Consistency is more important than intensity in the beginning.

For beginners, I really think loop bands are the way to go. They are versatile for both upper and lower body and generally safer than tube bands with handles if you are just starting out. You can get a good set with varying resistance levels on Amazon for not too much cash. Highly recommend! 💪

Do not underestimate the power of progressive overload even with bands. Start with a lighter resistance and focus on high repetitions and perfect form. Once that feels easy, either increase repetitions, slow down the movement, or move up to a thicker band. Small steps lead to big gains. 📈
