You guys are making me feel lucky to live in Texas. Only thing we worry about is the plates being too hot to touch in July!

Haha, I'd trade the heat for a bit of UK drizzle right now. But seriously, for the OP, focus on the hub. If the hub is stainless, the rest of the rubber plate is basically waterproof.

Don't forget to check the diameter. Some of those cheaper rubber-tri-grip plates are slightly smaller than the standard 450mm bumper size. Makes deadlifting from the floor a pain in the back.

Thanks for all the advice! I think I'm going to look for some second-hand crumb bumpers. The noise reduction is a nice bonus too.

Good choice. Crumb rubber is basically indestructible. You can drop them on concrete and they'll just bounce back. Perfect for a garage floor.

Just make sure you have some horse stall mats down too. Even bumpers can crack a thin garage slab over time if you're dropping heavy triples.

I used to use cast iron in my shed in Manchester. Terrible mistake. Switched to Rogue Echo bumpers and haven't seen a speck of rust since. Sometimes it's worth the extra investment.

Rogue in the UK? The shipping costs must have been mental!

They have a European warehouse now, so it's not as bad as it used to be. Still, for an affordable build, Mirafit or Strength Shop are usually the winners for us Brits.
