My accountability group and I are all dealing with weight loss plateaus as a team. It is strange how we all seemed to stop losing weight at the exact same time. We are trying to figure out if we need to change our macros or increase our cardio volume.

Being part of a group makes the plateau much less discouraging. We can brainstorm new ideas and keep each other from giving up. We have decided to do a two-week sugar detox to see if that jumpstarts our progress again.

Has your group ever hit a wall together? How did you break through it? I am curious if a collective change in strategy is more effective than everyone trying to figure it out on their own. We are determined to see that scale move again!

That is weirdly common, TeamTransform. My flatmate and I hit a wall at the same time last year. It’s almost like the weather changing or some shared stressor messed with our collective cortisol levels. Are you lot all following the same meal plan or just training together?

I have been looking into this myself and honestly it’s so frustrating. We have a local group here in Ohio and we’ve been stuck for three weeks. We’re thinking about doing a "chaos week" where we all change our workout times just to shock the system. Has anyone tried that?

I’m not a fan of 'shocking the system'—usually it just leads to injuries. In my Vancouver group, we found that we were all subconsciously 'relaxing' on our weekend calories because we felt safe in the group. We started sharing photos of every single meal for a week and the scale started moving again.

Totally agree with Dave. Shared complacency is a real thing! You think "Oh, Sarah had a biscuit so I can have one too." Before you know it, the whole team’s deficit has vanished into thin air.

I disagree about the food being the only culprit. Down here in Texas, when the heat spikes, we all retain water like crazy. If your whole team is in the same region, check the local climate or even the pollen count. Inflammation is a scale-killer.

That's a fair point, TXguy. But if they're an online team spread across the US and UK, it's probably behavioral. TeamTransform, are you guys tracking your non-exercise activity? Sometimes when we train hard as a group, we all end up sitting more the rest of the day because we’re knackered.

We are actually spread out! Two in London, one in NYC, and one in Toronto. So it’s not the weather. MapleLeafFan, that 'sitting more' comment hits home—we've been bragging about our heavy lifts but probably ignoring our step counts.

There you go! Why don't you lot set a collective step goal for the week? Say, 70,000 steps each. Make it a competition to see who hits it first. It’s a low-stress way to increase the burn without burning out.

We did a step challenge in our group and it worked for two people, but the other three stayed stuck. It turns out they were eating back the 'extra' calories they thought they burned. You have to be so careful with that.

Exactly. You can't out-walk a bad diet, even as a team. Maybe try a "Recipe Swap" night? Everyone has to cook a high-protein, low-cal meal and share the macros. Keeps it fun but focused.

I love the recipe swap idea. It moves the focus from 'what we can't have' to 'what we can create.' It’s much better for the group's mental health than just complaining about the scale numbers.

Has anyone considered a 'maintenance break'? Sometimes the body just needs to settle at a new weight for a few weeks before it's ready to drop again. If the whole team is tired, maybe a week of eating at maintenance would reset your hormones.

A maintenance break as a team sounds like a recipe for a permanent hiatus lol. I'd be too scared we'd never start the deficit again.

That's my fear too, Maple. We're already feeling a bit demotivated. If we stop the deficit now, I’m worried the group will just fall apart.

Then don't stop, just pivot. Focus on a performance goal for the next 14 days. "Team total of 500 pushups" or something. Forget the scale for a fortnight and just move.

Proper advice, that. When the scale is stubborn, the tape measure usually isn't. Are you lot taking measurements?

We aren’t, but we should be. I’ll suggest that to my guys tonight. It’s hard to stay mad at a plateau when your trousers are fitting better.

Trousers don't lie, Mike! Honestly, the mental support of the team is more important than the weight loss anyway. Don't let a temporary stall break the bond.

Amen to that. Just keep showing up for each other. The weight will follow eventually.
