What about the flavor? I find the non-malto gainers taste like dirt. Maltodextrin has that smooth texture that's hard to replicate with oats.
Try adding a bit of cocoa powder or some frozen berries. It masks the "earthy" taste of the oats pretty well.
Honestly, if you want that texture, just use highly branched cyclic dextrin (HBCD). It's more expensive but much easier on the stomach and doesn't cause the massive insulin spike-and-crash.
HBCD is the pro move. I use that intra-workout and it keeps me fueled without any bloating at all.
I'll look into HBCD. But for now, the oat and peanut butter shakes are saving me a lot of money!
