It seems like everyone does their meal prep on Sunday afternoon but I find that my Sundays are always so busy with family and chores. I am wondering if anyone else does their prep on a Monday night instead.

Does it make a difference in how fresh the food stays for the end of the week? I am worried that if I prep on Monday I will be too tired after work to do a good job. I am based in the UK and I usually do my big shop on Saturday morning.

When do you all find the time to get your cooking done? I am trying to find a routine that works for my schedule without making me feel overwhelmed. I would love to hear your thoughts on the best day and time to tackle the weekly meal prep!

I completely agree with WeekendWarrior. My Sundays are always a whirlwind of family commitments and getting ready for the week ahead, so dedicating several hours to meal prep feels impossible. I have started doing a quick prep on Monday evenings, and it is much more manageable.

@Alexandoy, totally! Sundays are for unwinding and spending time with loved ones for me. Trying to squeeze in meal prep just adds unnecessary stress. Monday night prep sounds like a solid alternative.

For me, Sunday is the only day I have a large chunk of uninterrupted time. I get all my groceries done early, put on some music, and just power through. It sets me up perfectly for the week and I do not have to think about it on a busy Monday.

@PumpChaser, I am with you there. Sunday is my dedicated meal prep day. It is like a weekly ritual. I get it all done, clean up, and then I am good to go. It makes the rest of the week so much smoother.

I am a strong advocate for Monday night meal prep! After a long day, it is a great way to wind down for me. Plus, it means my ingredients are super fresh for the start of the week. No soggy salads by Wednesday!

@HealthyHabitsCA, do you find it impacts your Monday evening too much? I worry I would be too tired after work to get a good prep session in.

Why not both? I tend to do my main cooking of proteins and grains on Sunday, and then chop veggies and assemble smaller items on Monday evening. It breaks up the task and ensures some freshness.

@Jayne_Scott, that is a smart idea! I have never considered splitting it up like that. It would definitely make Sunday less daunting and Monday less overwhelming.

I think it really depends on your work schedule and what your week looks like. If you have a demanding job, a relaxed Sunday prep might be better. If your Sundays are hectic, then Monday makes sense.

@AllOkJumpmaster, definitely. My shifts make a consistent Sunday prep impossible, so I have to be flexible. Sometimes it is Monday, sometimes Tuesday, depending on when I have an evening free.

For me, it is about freshness. Monday prep means fresher food for later in the week, especially if you are making salads or anything with delicate greens. Sunday prep can sometimes lead to food spoilage by Friday.

@Droz, I totally agree! Nothing worse than opening your fridge to find your prepped veggies have gone sad. Monday prep extends the shelf life of your meals significantly.

My biggest challenge with Monday night prep is motivation after a full day of work and a gym session. By the time I get home, cooking for hours just feels like another chore.

@AnimalLifter, have you tried prepping ingredients the night before? Like chopping all your veggies on Sunday night, so Monday is just cooking? It might cut down on the active time on Monday.

I found that if I do not do it Sunday, it just does not happen. Monday nights are for relaxing, not cooking. I try to be super efficient on Sunday so I can enjoy my week without worrying about meals.

@Mecca, that is my fear too. Sunday is non-negotiable for me for meal prep. If I miss it, my entire week is thrown off, and I end up eating out more than I should.

It is less about the specific day and more about consistency and finding a routine that fits your lifestyle. Whether it is Sunday, Monday, or even a staggered approach, the key is making it a habit.

I like to cook fresh for dinner on Sundays, usually something a bit more elaborate. So, meal prepping on Sunday takes away from that. Monday works better for simpler, bulk cooking.

@Dragustav, same here! Sunday dinner is sacred in my household. It is a time for family and good food. Shifting meal prep to Monday means I can enjoy my Sunday evening properly.

I do my main prep on Sunday for the first half of the week, and then a small refresh on Wednesday evening for the remaining days. This way, everything stays fresh and I do not get bored of the meals.

@PrinceVegeta, that is a brilliant strategy for freshness and variety! A mid-week top-up makes so much sense. I am going to try implementing that.

My partner and I tag team it. One cooks on Sunday, the other helps with chopping and packaging, and then we switch roles for a smaller prep session on Monday evening. It makes it much faster!

@Zigurd, I love that idea of teamwork! So efficient. My spouse and I need to try that. It would cut down on the time commitment for each of us considerably.
