Is Swimming or Cycling Better for Active Recovery
One more vote for the pool—it's great for breathwork. Focusing on your breathing rhythm in the water is almost meditative and really helps the nervous system calm down after a high-intensity week.
Good point on the meditation aspect. Cycling in London is more like a survival sport than a meditation, haha!
Al, why not try both? Swim one week, cycle the next. See which one leaves you feeling more 'refreshed' for your main training days.
I agree with Dave. Variety is the spice of life. And it prevents overuse injuries from doing the same 'recovery' move over and over.
Just keep the intensity low! That's the biggest takeaway. Don't turn your recovery into another workout.
Exactly. If you're huffing and puffing, you're doing it wrong.
Solid advice. I'm going to go for a very lazy bike ride now. Thanks everyone!
