That’s the golden rule of Paleo, isn’t it? If it comes in a box with a fancy label, it’s probably not what we’re looking for. Anyway, back to the sweet potatoes for me tonight.

What’s the verdict on fruit? I eat a lot of bananas but I’ve heard the fructose doesn't replenish muscle glycogen as well as the glucose in starches.

From what I’ve read, you’re right, Dave. Fructose goes to the liver first. You want that glucose for the muscles. Bananas are a good 'quick' fix, but the tubers are the long-term fuel.

I just have a mix. A banana and a handful of berries in the morning, then a massive portion of butternut squash with dinner. Seems to keep the energy levels stable enough.

Butternut squash is great, but peeling them is a workout in itself! Anyone have a shortcut for that?

Cut it in half, roast it skin-side up, then just scoop the flesh out. No peeling required, mate!

Now that is the kind of 'hacker' advice I come to this forum for. Efficiency is king.

Agreed. Thanks for the tips everyone. My grocery list just got a lot more interesting for this week's prep.
