What should my first week in the gym look like?
First week is also about gym etiquette. Re-rack your weights and don't sit on your phone for 10 minutes while someone is waiting for the equipment.
Oh man, the phone thing is a pet peeve of mine. Just get in, do your work, and get out. You'll feel much more productive.
Make sure you have a decent pair of shoes. You don't need lifting shoes yet, but some stable trainers are better than worn-out running shoes for weight work.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, just do 15 minutes of walking and 15 minutes of stretching. Showing up is 90% of the battle in the beginning.

Good job Cathy! The first week is the hardest mentally. Once you have a routine, it becomes second nature.
Exactly. Next week, maybe try one free weight exercise. Small steps lead to big changes. Keep it up!
