Managing Social Media Consumption for Better Self Esteem
Turned mine off years ago. Best decision I ever made for my focus and my peace of mind.
I think it’s also important to remember that 'fitspo' is often highly edited. Even the 'no filter' posts usually have professional lighting. Comparing your bathroom mirror to their studio setup is a losing game.
Very true. Posing, lighting, and angles do 90% of the work in those photos. Don't let a 2D image ruin your 3D reality.
I’ve started following more 'reality' accounts. People who show the bloat, the bad days, and the messy kitchens. It makes me feel much more 'normal' during my own fitness journey.
Reality is definitely coming back into fashion, thank God. Sick of the over-processed nonsense.
Update: I did the 30-minute limit again yesterday and it was much easier. I felt like I actually had an extra hour in my day to do things I enjoy. Social media just sucks the time right out of you.
That's awesome Sam. I'm going to try the 'apps off the home screen' trick today. Small steps!
Small steps lead to big changes. We’ve got this everyone. Let's reclaim our brains from the algorithms!
Well said. Stay grounded, everyone.
