Why Skinny Shaming is Hurtful to Fitness Progress
I think the biggest issue is that people don't see skinny shaming as "shaming." They think it's a compliment or a light-hearted joke. We need to educate people that it’s just as harmful.
Exactly. If I commented on someone being overweight, I'd be the villain. But calling me "bones" is just "banter." It’s exhausting.
It also leads to a lot of unhealthy habits. I know guys who started eating pure junk just to "get big" because they were tired of being called skinny. That's not fitness progress.
Dirty bulking is the devil. I did that for a summer and just felt like absolute rubbish. All because my mates at the pub kept taking the mickey out of my size.
We just gotta keep showing up. The best revenge is a massive back and shoulders that they can't ignore.
I’m trying to focus on how I feel rather than how I look. If I have energy for my hockey games and I’m sleeping well, then I’m doing okay, regardless of what people say about my weight.
That’s a great mindset, Maple. I need to adopt that more in Leeds. Consistency is the only thing that matters.
This thread has been really helpful. Nice to know I’m not the only one getting these comments.
We're all in this together. Ectomorphs unite! lol
Stick with it, everyone. Don't let the noise stop your gains.
See y'all at the squat rack tomorrow. No excuses.
